CHAPTER 2 – THE SECRET ONLY THE HORSE REMEMBERED

The arena manager finally unlocked the emergency gate.
Veterinarians, trainers, and security officers rushed inside.
But the moment anyone moved too quickly toward Margaret...
Tornado reared onto his hind legs with a deafening cry.
No one could get close.
Except one person.
Margaret.
Slowly...
she lifted her trembling hand again.
"It's all right..."
she whispered softly.
The enormous stallion immediately relaxed.
Silence spread across the stadium.
Even the trainers looked stunned.
"I've trained him for six years," one whispered.
"I've never seen him obey anyone."
Margaret closed her eyes.
Then memories flooded back.
Twenty-two years earlier...
her late husband, William, had rescued an abandoned white foal barely hours from death after a devastating wildfire.
Their young son Daniel had hated the animal.
"He costs too much."
"You care more about that horse than me."
William had ignored the complaints.
He raised the foal himself.
Its name was Tornado.
When William passed away years later, Margaret believed the ranch had quietly sold the horse to another breeder.
She never knew the truth.
Daniel had secretly sold Tornado for quick cash.
The old horse trader who bought him later discovered Tornado possessed extraordinary bloodlines and eventually sold him into the entertainment industry.
Now...
after decades apart...
the horse recognized the woman who had bottle-fed him as a baby.
The crowd watched in complete amazement as Tornado gently rested his head against Margaret's shoulder.
Many spectators wiped away tears.
Daniel, however...
was panicking.
If people began asking questions...
everything could unravel.
Suddenly he pointed toward the horse and shouted,
"He's becoming aggressive! Shoot him before he kills my mother!"
Several frightened guards reached for tranquilizer rifles.
Margaret instantly raised her voice.
"NO!"
The entire arena froze.
She pointed directly at Daniel.
"That man..."
"...didn't bring me here to save me."
"He brought me here to die."
A shocked silence spread through the stands.
Daniel laughed nervously.
"Mom... you're confused."
"Please..."
"Everyone knows your memory isn't good."
But before anyone could respond...
a calm voice echoed from behind the VIP section.
"Actually..."
"I believe every word she just said."
All heads turned.
An elderly man wearing a worn cowboy hat slowly stepped forward.
In his hand...
was a small flash drive.
And what it contained...
May you like
would destroy Daniel forever.
