CHAPTER 4 — "The Man in the Wheelchair Knew Ryan's Darkest Secret."

Emily refused to step back.

Instead of running, she walked straight toward Ryan.

"You've already lost everything," she said. "Why are you still doing this?"

Ryan laughed, the sound echoing through the dark hospital corridor.

"Because you think this is about my career."

His smile widened.

"It never was."

Before Emily could answer, hospital security rushed toward them.

Ryan disappeared into the emergency stairwell before anyone could catch him.

But he left something behind.

A small silver USB drive.

Victoria insisted the police examine it, but Emily couldn't wait.

Inside the encrypted drive were dozens of hidden files—bank transfers, forged contracts, fake identities, and surveillance footage dating back almost ten years.

Then Emily opened one video.

Her blood turned to ice.

The footage showed Ryan meeting an elderly man in a wheelchair inside a private underground parking garage.

The timestamp was from six months before Ryan had publicly become Vice President.

The old man handed Ryan a thick folder.

Ryan asked only one question.

"After this... she'll never discover who killed her father?"

The old man nodded.

"The accident report has already been replaced."

Emily stopped breathing.

Her father hadn't died naturally.

He had been murdered.

Before she could process the revelation, Victoria received an urgent phone call.

"The wheelchair man has been identified."

His name was Charles Whitmore.

A billionaire businessman who had disappeared from public life years earlier after supposedly suffering a stroke.

Officially...

He was retired.

Unofficially...

Federal investigators believed he secretly controlled a network of corrupt executives, judges, and politicians from the shadows.

Ryan had never been the mastermind.

He had only been Charles Whitmore's puppet.

Just then, another encrypted message appeared on Emily's phone.

Congratulations.

Now you know the truth.

But your father wasn't the only one we buried.

Attached was an old family photograph.

Emily stared at it in horror.

Standing beside her father...

Was a little girl she had never seen before.

On the back of the photo, someone had written five chilling words.

"Find your sister before we do."
