CHAPTER 1 – The Maid Who Ruined the Perfect Wedding

Everyone believed it was the wedding of the year.
Crystal chandeliers glittered above hundreds of wealthy guests. Cameras flashed nonstop as Amelia Carter, the beautiful daughter of a billionaire real estate empire, walked gracefully down the aisle in a breathtaking designer gown. Beside her stood Ethan Brooks—the charming entrepreneur everyone admired.
They looked like the definition of a perfect couple.
But perfection only lasts until the truth walks through the door.
Just as the officiant smiled and asked if anyone objected to the marriage, the ballroom doors slowly opened.
No one expected a maid.
She wore a simple black-and-white uniform, her apron stained with silver polish from cleaning expensive dinnerware. In her trembling hands was a large antique serving tray.
Guests rolled their eyes.
"Who let the staff inside?"
"This is embarrassing."
"Get her out of here!"
The wedding planner rushed toward her, furious.
"You've interrupted the ceremony! Leave immediately!"
But the young maid didn't move.
Instead...
She stared directly at Ethan.
Her face turned pale.
Then Ethan's smile disappeared.
For just a fraction of a second, terror flashed across his face.
No one noticed it except Amelia.
"...Ethan?"
She squeezed his hand.
His palm was ice cold.
The maid whispered something so quietly that only Ethan could hear.
"You told me... you'd never come back here."
His breathing stopped.
The silver tray slipped from her hands.
CRASH!
The sound echoed across the ballroom.
Hundreds of crystal glasses rattled.
Every guest turned toward them.
The maid looked as though she'd seen a ghost.
Then tears filled her eyes.
"I didn't know..."
Her voice broke.
"...I didn't know you were marrying her."
The room fell completely silent.
Amelia frowned.
"You know each other?"
Before Ethan could answer, the maid wiped away her tears and forced herself to smile.
"I'm sorry."
"I made a mistake."
She bent down to gather the broken pieces of the tray.
But as she knelt...
A small velvet pouch slipped from her apron pocket.
It landed directly at Amelia's feet.
Curious, Amelia picked it up.
"It's yours," the maid said quickly.
But it was already too late.
The pouch had opened.
Inside lay an old silver engagement ring.
Not expensive.
Not glamorous.
Just worn from years of use.
Engraved inside were six tiny words.
Forever yours. — Ethan
Amelia felt her heart skip.
She slowly looked at her fiancé.
His face had turned completely white.
"Ethan..."
"...why is your name inside this ring?"
The guests began whispering.
His business partners exchanged nervous looks.
His mother suddenly stood up.
"That's impossible..."
The maid quickly reached for the ring.
"It doesn't matter anymore."
"It belonged to another life."
She turned to leave.
But Ethan shouted louder than anyone had ever heard.
"WAIT!"
The entire ballroom froze.
Amelia stared at him in disbelief.
He had never sounded so desperate.
Not even once.
The maid stopped walking.
Without turning around, she quietly asked,
"Are you finally ready to tell her..."
"...who I really am?"
Ethan closed his eyes.
Because he knew that if she said one more sentence...
May you like
His perfect life would collapse in front of everyone.
