CHAPTER 2 – The Ring He Buried With a Lie

The maid slowly turned around.

Her eyes were red, but her voice was calm.

"My name is Clara."

Gasps moved through the ballroom.

Ethan stepped forward.

"Clara, please..."

But she raised her hand.

"No. You don't get to silence me again."

Amelia looked between them, her wedding bouquet shaking in her hands.

"Again?"

Clara gave a painful smile.

"Seven years ago, Ethan promised to marry me. I was pregnant. Poor. Alone. And stupid enough to believe him."

The room exploded with whispers.

Amelia's father stood up.

"What did you just say?"

Ethan grabbed Amelia's arm.

"She's lying. She's just staff. She wants money."

Clara reached into her apron and pulled out an old photograph.

In it, Ethan was younger, smiling, holding Clara close… with the same silver ring on her finger.

Then Clara said the words that destroyed him.

"I didn't come here for money."

She looked straight at Amelia.

"I came here because your father hired me."

Amelia froze.

"My father?"

Her father’s face darkened.

Clara nodded.

"He asked me to work this wedding quietly. He said he needed proof that Ethan was hiding something before his daughter signed the final marriage documents."

Ethan staggered back.

Then Amelia's father pulled a folder from beneath his chair and threw it at Ethan's feet.

Inside were bank records.

Fake company names.

A hidden marriage certificate.

And one birth certificate.

Amelia picked it up with trembling fingers.

A little boy’s name was printed there.

Mother: Clara Wells.

Father: Ethan Brooks.

Amelia could barely breathe.

"You have a son?"

Ethan whispered, "I can explain."

But Clara shook her head.

"No. You abandoned us the night our baby was born. You said you were going to buy diapers… and you never came back."

Amelia slowly removed her engagement ring.

The diamond hit the floor like a bullet.

Then the ballroom doors opened again.

A small boy in a wrinkled suit walked in, holding a toy car.

He looked at Ethan with innocent eyes and asked,

"Mommy… is that the man from the picture?"

Ethan collapsed into a chair.

Every camera turned toward him.

Every guest saw the truth.

But just when Amelia thought the nightmare was over…

Clara whispered one final secret.

"There's one more thing."

She looked at Amelia’s father.

"Ethan wasn't marrying your daughter for love."

Then she pointed to the wedding contract.

"He planned to take control of your company tonight."

Amelia's father smiled coldly.

"That's why I changed the contract this morning."

Ethan looked up in horror.

The old billionaire leaned closer and said,

"You didn't marry into my empire, son."

May you like

"You just signed your own confession."
