Chapter 8 - A New DynastyThree weeks later, the Rinaldi manor looked different. The broken glass was gone, the walls were repainted, and the nursery wall featured a brand-new, beautifully structured city map drawn in neat, permanent ink by three boys who finally smiled without guarding their eyes.

In the grand study, Henry Brandt placed a thick leather-bound folder on the mahogany desk.
"The federal charges against Vance and his men are locked in," Henry said, adjusting his glasses. "The estate is secure. And your daughter Rosie has been enrolled in the private academy down the road, fully paid for."
Claire sat across from the desk, wearing a sharp, tailored blazer instead of her old borrowed coat. She looked at the contract in front of her.
The salary wasn't $6,000 a month anymore. It was permanent.
The door opened, and Dante walked in. He wasn't wearing his usual armor of cold indifference. He looked tired, human, and entirely captivated as he looked at Claire.
"You're not leaving, are you?" Dante asked quietly, leaning against the edge of the desk.
"My bank account says eleven million now, Mr. Rinaldi," Claire said with a slow, wicked smile, tapping the contract. "I think I can afford to stay."
From the doorway, three little heads peeked in, led by Leo with his scarred eyebrow and a triumphant grin.
"Does this mean," Leo asked loudly, "we get pancakes for dinner again?"

Dante laughed—a rich, booming sound that filled the ancient stone house with warmth for the first time in five years. He reached across the desk, taking Claire’s hand in his.
"It means," Dante whispered, locking his dark eyes with hers, "everything has changed."
