CHAPTER 1: "Promise Me You Won't Tell Mom..."
Seven-year-old Noah had stopped talking.
Not because he couldn't.
Because he was terrified.
Every night, he sat alone beside the window in his dark bedroom, hugging the same worn-out teddy bear while staring at the driveway, waiting for his father to come home.
His mother, Emily, thought he was simply struggling after the accident.
But she had no idea what Noah had witnessed that rainy night.
One evening, Daniel finally came home after another mysterious business trip.
The moment he stepped into Noah's room, the little boy burst into tears.
Daniel knelt in front of him, gently wiping away the tears.
"It's okay, buddy," he whispered. "Everything is going to be alright."
Noah looked into his father's eyes with a fear no child should ever know.
"Dad..."
His tiny voice trembled.
"I still hear her screaming..."
Daniel froze.
For a split second, all the color disappeared from his face.
He quickly hugged Noah tightly.
"Listen to me," he whispered urgently.
"You must never tell Mom what you saw that night."
Noah nodded weakly.
"But... what if she asks?"
Daniel forced a smile.
"Tell her it was just a nightmare."
Outside the bedroom door...
Emily had just arrived home.
She wasn't supposed to hear anything.
But those few words shattered her world.
She quietly stepped away before they noticed.
Her heart pounded so hard she could barely breathe.
What secret was her husband hiding?
And why was their son living in constant fear?
That night, while Daniel slept peacefully beside her, Emily quietly opened Noah's backpack to look for answers.
Hidden inside was a folded piece of paper.
It wasn't homework.
It was a child's drawing.
A bridge.
A black car.
A woman falling into the river.

A man wearing the exact same blue jacket Daniel had worn the night of the accident.
