CHAPTER 1 — THE BOY EVERYONE CALLED A LIAR

The entire neighborhood stopped to watch.
On a quiet suburban street, a teenage boy stood frozen with a bruised cheek, his trembling hands clenched into fists. Across from him was his father—a respected businessman known as the "perfect family man."
Without warning...
SLAP!
The sound echoed through the street.
"You've embarrassed this family for the last time!" his father shouted.
The neighbors watched from their porches.
No one stepped in.
No one asked what had happened.
Because everyone believed the same thing.
That Ethan was a troubled kid.
A liar.
A disappointment.
Only Ethan knew the truth.
His eyes filled with tears, but he refused to cry.
"You can hit me," he whispered. "But you can't hide what you did forever."
His father's face changed instantly.
For less than a second...
Fear flashed across his eyes.
"What are you talking about?" he snapped.
Ethan slowly pulled a small flash drive from his pocket.
"I found Mom's secret."
Silence.
His father lunged toward him, trying to snatch it away.
Ethan stepped back.
"You've spent three years telling everyone she abandoned us."
He swallowed hard.
"But she didn't."
His father's breathing became heavier.
The neighbors exchanged confused glances.
Ethan continued.
"She tried to come back... dozens of times."
"What?" someone whispered.
"My father blocked every phone call... every letter... every message."
The crowd stared at the man they had admired for years.
He forced a nervous laugh.
"He's making this up."
But Ethan raised the flash drive higher.
"I copied everything from your office computer."
Emails.
Bank transfers.
Deleted security footage.
And one file labeled...
"DO NOT LET HER RETURN."
The man's face turned pale.
For the first time in years...
His perfect image began to crack.
And Ethan said the words that made everyone step back.
"My mother never abandoned me."
"She was the one trying to save me."
The father suddenly whispered...
"You have no idea what you've started."
May you like
The crowd had no idea...
The worst secret hadn't even been revealed yet.
