CHAPTER 2: THE GROOM WHO NEVER EXISTED

Claire's knees nearly gave out.
She stared at the message on her screen.
"The man standing beside you isn't the one you married."
Across the ballroom, Ethan raised his champagne glass and smiled like a prince.
But now Claire saw it.
The smile was too controlled.
The voice was almost perfect, but not quite.
And the small scar Ethan had above his left eyebrow...
Was gone.
Claire's blood turned cold.
Then the lights suddenly went out.
A scream ripped through the ballroom.
When the chandeliers flickered back on, Ethan was standing directly behind her.
His hand rested gently on her shoulder.
"Ready for our private walk by the lake?" he whispered.
Claire forced a smile.
"Of course."
But in her clutch, her phone vibrated again.
"Do not go with him. Your real husband is still alive."
Claire looked up in terror.
Before she could run, the ballroom doors burst open.
A man in a torn black suit stumbled inside, covered in blood.
The guests gasped.
Claire stopped breathing.
Because the man at the door had Ethan's face.
The real Ethan pointed at the groom beside her and shouted:
"Claire, get away from him!"
The impostor smiled.

Then he pulled a gun from inside his jacket.
And the entire wedding became a nightmare.
