Chapter 7 - The Mastermind UnmaskedThe four armed guards immediately pulled suppressed handguns from their coats, pointing them directly at me and Arthur Sterling.

"Open these doors right now, Elena, or I'll have my men paint this room with your brains," Marcus snarled, his composure breaking for the first time.

"You won't shoot," I said, casually walking out from behind the podium and stepping directly into the line of fire. "Because the moment my heart rate drops below sixty beats per minute, the encrypted server in Zurich automatically broadcasts the full evidence file—including your money laundering, your illegal share acquisition, and the execution order you signed against my father—to the FBI, Interpol, and the Department of Defense."

Marcus froze. His hand twitched. "You're lying."

"Try me," I dared him, taking another step forward. "Do you think I spent three years letting your nephew court me, let him think he was manipulating me, let him pretend to be a charming suitor, just to be caught unprepared in a room with you?"

Gregory gasped, clutching his head in horror. "Wait... you... you knew from the beginning?!"

I turned my head slightly to look at my trembling husband.

"Did you really think I didn't know who you were when you bumped into me at that coffee shop six months ago, Gregory?" I sneered with total contempt. "You thought you were a master strategist executing your uncle's plan to infiltrate my family's remaining estate. In reality, I dropped the breadcrumbs that led you straight to me. I let you think I was weak. I let you think you were in control. I even let you throw your little temper tantrum last night just to make sure you were terrified enough to obey my every command today."

Gregory slumped back into his chair, utterly broken. He realized in that instant that his entire marriage, his entire life for the past year, had been an elaborate cage engineered by the very woman he tried to intimidate.

"You brought us all into one room," Marcus realized, his eyes darting around the red-lit room as terror set in. "This was never about Vanguard's audit."

"No," I smiled, pulling out the black phone I had taken from Gregory's golf bag. "This was about getting your physical presence inside a sealed environment while I uploaded your private master key directly to the federal authorities."

Suddenly, the heavy steel security doors groaned.

A sudden, violent explosion blew the hinges off the boardroom door, sending smoke and debris flying into the room.
