CHAPTER 3 — THE BILLIONAIRE HEIR WALKED INTO HER FATHER'S HEADQUARTERS... WHILE THE MAN WHO THREW HER OUT BEGGED FOR A MYSTERY INVESTOR

The towering glass headquarters of the Montemayor Group rose above Mexico City's skyline like a monument built for kings.

For years...

Business magazines had called it the most powerful company no one truly understood.

Its investments reached into banks...

Luxury hotels...

Airports...

Construction...

Technology...

Energy...

And some of the country's most valuable real estate.

Yet almost no one had ever met its true owner.

Now...

A black luxury sedan rolled quietly toward the private entrance.

Valeria sat in the back seat, holding baby Mateo against her chest.

She still wore the same simple clothes from the night before.

Her hair was tied back in a hurried ponytail.

Dark circles framed her exhausted eyes.

She didn't look like the woman newspapers imagined would inherit a billion-dollar empire.

She looked like what she truly was...

A mother who hadn't slept.

The security gates slowly opened.

Every guard immediately stood at attention.

As the car stopped beneath the main entrance, dozens of executives were already waiting outside.

Men and women wearing tailored Italian suits formed two silent lines.

The oldest among them stepped forward.

His silver hair reflected the morning sun.

He placed one hand over his heart.

"Welcome home, Miss Montemayor."

One by one...

Every executive bowed.

No applause.

No speeches.

Only silence...

The kind reserved for someone whose authority needed no introduction.

Valeria looked around in disbelief.

"I'm not sure I deserve this."

The elderly executive smiled gently.

"You don't inherit respect because of money."

"You inherit it because your father spent forty years earning it."

"He often told us that if you ever arrived here..."

"...it would only be because someone had broken your heart."

Those words pierced her soul.

Even after all these years...

Her father had known exactly what kind of world she would face.

Inside the executive boardroom...

A portrait of Don Alejandro Montemayor dominated the wall.

For the first time since childhood...

Valeria stood before her father's smiling face.

She whispered through tears...

"I'm sorry it took me so long to come home."

The room remained completely silent.

Then the company's chief legal officer placed a thick leather folder in front of her.

"Everything your father left behind is legally yours."

Valeria opened it slowly.

Property deeds.

Investment portfolios.

International company reports.

Private foundations.

Shipping routes.

Patents.

Art collections.

Medical research centers.

The list seemed endless.

Then she reached the final page.

One name immediately caught her attention.

Castillo Desarrollos S.A.

Her breathing stopped.

She looked up.

"That's Esteban's company."

The legal officer nodded.

"Yes."

"He doesn't know."

"Know what?"

The attorney folded his hands.

"For nearly twelve years..."

"His company has survived because your father's investment fund quietly financed it."

Valeria stared at him.

"No..."

"That can't be true."

"It is."

He slid another folder across the table.

Inside were confidential agreements signed years earlier.

When Esteban's father had nearly lost everything during an economic crisis...

Don Alejandro had secretly rescued the company.

But he had asked for one condition.

His identity would remain hidden forever.

"He believed people should build success with humility."

"So he never asked for public recognition."

Valeria closed the folder.

Her hands trembled.

"The man who humiliated me..."

"...only became wealthy because of my father?"

The room fell silent.

Finally...

The chief financial officer answered.

"Without Montemayor funding..."

"Castillo Desarrollos would have collapsed years ago."

Meanwhile...

Across the city...

Panic spread through Esteban's headquarters.

Phones rang nonstop.

Investors demanded explanations.

Construction workers reported halted projects.

Suppliers refused new deliveries.

Banks delayed transfers.

Inside the emergency board meeting...

The atmosphere was suffocating.

"We need fresh capital immediately," one director warned.

"If nothing changes within seventy-two hours..."

"We'll begin defaulting on major contracts."

Another executive leaned forward.

"There is only one institution large enough to save us."

Everyone knew the name.

The Montemayor Group.

Esteban straightened in his chair.

"Arrange a meeting."

"As soon as possible."

His assistant hesitated.

"I'm afraid..."

"They don't accept requests."

"They choose who they meet."

Esteban smirked confidently.

"They'll meet me."

"They know who I am."

At that exact moment...

Inside Montemayor headquarters...

Valeria was reading another confidential file.

Her expression slowly changed.

"What is this?"

The attorney answered carefully.

"It's a private investigation your father ordered before he died."

She opened the folder.

Inside were dozens of photographs.

Receipts.

Financial records.

Witness statements.

Hidden camera images.

The first photo showed a much younger Doña Leticia.

The second...

Esteban's late father.

The third...

A smiling Don Alejandro.

All three stood together at a charity gala twenty-five years earlier.

Valeria frowned.

"My father knew Esteban's family?"

The attorney nodded slowly.

"They weren't just acquaintances."

"They were partners."

Before Valeria could ask another question...

He revealed the truth that froze everyone in the room.

"Your engagement to Esteban..."

"...was never a coincidence."

The silence became unbearable.

"What do you mean?"

The attorney inhaled deeply.

"Someone deliberately arranged for the two of you to meet."

Valeria felt her pulse racing.

"Who?"

The attorney looked directly into her eyes.

"We don't know."

"But your father believed someone inside the Castillo family had been searching for you..."

"...long before you ever met Esteban."

Across the city...

Esteban finally received the phone call he had been waiting for.

His assistant rushed into the office.

"They agreed."

His eyes lit up.

"The Montemayor Group?"

She nodded.

"You've been granted a meeting tomorrow morning."

Relief flooded his face.

He smiled for the first time all day.

"They're finally going to save my company."

He had no idea...

That the person waiting for him inside the boardroom...

Would be the same woman he had thrown into a storm with their infant son less than forty-eight hours earlier.

May you like

And this time...

She would be sitting in the chair at the head of the table.
