Chapter 2 – The Man Who Stole His Life

Ethan stared at the scarred little boy in the newspaper clipping.
His hands went cold.
For twenty-eight years, he had believed his parents died in a car crash. That was what his adoptive father had told him.
But now an old man in a diner was looking at him like he had finally found the missing piece of his soul.
Walter reached for Ethan’s hand.
“My son Daniel didn’t kidnap anyone,” he whispered. “He was trying to save you.”
Ethan’s throat tightened.
“Save me from who?”
Before Walter could answer, the diner door opened again.
A tall man in a dark coat stepped inside.
The waitress froze.
Walter’s face turned white.
The man looked straight at Ethan and smiled like he had been expecting him.
“Ethan,” he said softly. “It’s time to come home.”
Ethan’s blood turned to ice.
Because that voice belonged to the man who raised him.
The man who told him his real family was dead.
The man who had lied about everything.
His father.
Walter grabbed Ethan’s wrist and whispered one sentence that made the whole diner fall silent.
“He’s not your father.”
Then the lights went out.
