Chapter 6 - THE TRONE OF GLASS (THE TWIST ENDING)

Headline: "The Mind-Blowing Twist! The Real Mastermind Steps Forward, and the Throne Shifts Forever!"The smoke cleared slowly, revealing the man who had just broken into the safest room in the mansion.

It wasn't Don Marco. It wasn't the Russian boss.

It was Dr. Julian Vance—the chief neurosurgeon who had operated on Matteo after his shooting, the very man who had diagnosed him with permanent paralysis.

Celeste gasped, dropping her gun. "Julian? What are you doing here? You said your men would handle the outside!"

Dr. Vance didn't look at her. He walked past her, his expensive leather shoes clicking on the concrete, and stopped right in front of Matteo, who was still propped against the weapon crates.

"I must admit, Matteo, your resilience is medically fascinating," Dr. Vance said, pulling a small remote control from his pocket—not for a bomb, but for something else. "You weren't supposed to leave that bed for another six months. The toxins I injected into your spinal block should have kept you completely sedated."

Matteo’s eyes narrowed. The pieces of the puzzle finally fell into place. "The medication. The daily injections. You weren't treating me. You were paralyzing me."

"Exactly," Dr. Vance smiled, a cold, clinical expression. "Celeste wanted your money, Marco wanted your title. But I? I wanted your empire. The Vance family used to rule this city before your father wiped them out thirty years ago. I spent a decade becoming the top neurosurgeon in the country just to get close enough to put a bullet in your spine."

Celeste stepped forward, panic in her voice. "Julian, we need to go! The cash is here, let’s leave him!"

Dr. Vance turned to Celeste, his smile turning cruel. "Thank you for your service, Celeste. But I don't share thrones."

Before Celeste could scream, Vance raised a silenced pistol and shot her twice in the chest. She fell backward onto the bags of money, her emerald gown soaking in her own blood, her eyes staring blankly at the ceiling.

"And now, Matteo," Vance said, turning back to the paralyzed Don. "The Rinaldi line ends tonight. A tragic casualty of a Russian mob hit."

He aimed the gun at Matteo’s forehead.

"Elena," Matteo said softly.

"Yes, Boss?" Elena answered from the shadows behind the crates.

"Did you record that?"

Dr. Vance blinked, confused. "Record what?"

Suddenly, the massive flat-screen monitors on the armory wall flickered to life. They showed a live feed of the Commission—the five heads of the most powerful mafia families in America—watching the entire scene via a hidden camera on Elena’s uniform.

"Julian Vance," the voice of Old Don Carmine boomed through the speakers. "You broke the first rule of the underworld. You brought outsiders and doctors into a family dispute. Your family name is officially erased."

Vance’s face drained of color. He staggered back, realizing he had just confessed his entire plot to the rulers of the American underworld.

"Elena," Matteo commanded, his voice echoing with absolute authority. "Take his legs."

Elena didn't hesitate. She fired two precise shots into Dr. Vance’s kneecaps. The doctor shrieked, collapsing to the floor, clutching his shattered joints, weeping in agony.

Matteo crawled forward, using his powerful arms to drag himself over to the fallen doctor. He picked up the gun Vance had dropped, looking down at the man who had stolen his ability to walk.

"You thought a wheelchair made me weak," Matteo whispered, placing the barrel against Vance’s temple. "But it just meant I didn't have to waste time standing up to look down on you."

BANG.

EPILOGUE: THE NEW REIGNOne month later.

The Rinaldi mansion had been completely rebuilt, grander and more secure than ever before.

The dining room doors opened once again. The table was full of new, younger capos, all sitting in absolute, terrified silence.

At the head of the table sat Matteo Rinaldi. His wheelchair had been customized—clad in bulletproof titanium and black leather, looking less like a medical device and more like a modern, terrifying throne.

To his right stood Elena Marlowe. She was no longer wearing a maid’s uniform. She wore a tailored black suit, a diamond-encrusted dagger at her waist, and the official ring of the Underboss of the Rinaldi Family.

Matteo lifted his glass of champagne. His legs didn't move, but as he looked around the room, every single man stood up instantly, raising their glasses in perfect, trembling unison.

"To the future," Matteo said.

And the city bowed.
