Chapter 10 - THE NEW DAWNThe morning sun rose over the cliffs of Cross Manor, painting the sky in brilliant shades of gold, amber, and deep violet. The air was crisp, clean, and free of the heavy tension that had choked the estate for a decade.

Holden stood on the stone balcony overlooking the eastern courtyard, breathing in the fresh sea breeze. His custom Sig Sauer rested locked securely in its wall safe downstairs; he hadn't needed to check it once all morning.

Down in the courtyard, a small, joyful scene was unfolding.

Vesper was running across the dew-kissed grass, her bright red sneakers splashing through puddles left by the morning mist. Chasing right behind her—moving with the effortless, powerful grace of a true protector—was Phantom. The massive Cane Corso kept his pace deliberately slow, matching the little girl’s stride, gently nudging her ankles with his snout to make her giggle uncontrollably.

Elena walked out onto the balcony, handing Holden a steaming ceramic mug of black coffee before leaning against the stone railing beside him.

"She’s adjusting well," Elena said softly, watching their daughter play in the sunlight. "No nightmares. No hiding. For the first time in her life, she feels safe."

"Because she is safe," Holden replied, taking a sip of the coffee and looking down at his family with a profound, unshakable peace in his chest. "We all are."

The dark history of the syndicate, the blood-soaked ledgers, the fear, the paranoia, and the bullets—it was all buried deep beneath the rocks where it belonged. They hadn't survived by playing by the monsters' rules; they had survived by tearing the board down and building something real from the ashes.

"What's our next move, Boss?" Elena teased gently, throwing a playful, knowing glance up at him. "Do we retire to a quiet vineyard in Italy, or do we start a legitimate shipping enterprise?"

Holden chuckled, wrapping his arm around her shoulders and pulling her tight against his side as they watched Vesper and Phantom race toward the edge of the lawn.

"No vineyards, Elena," Holden smiled, looking out at the endless horizon where the sun was burning away the last wisps of the morning fog. "We stay right here. From now on, we build our legacy in the light."
