Chapter 5 - THE HOSPITAL RAIDDuring my residency, our hospital faced a brutal takeover. A massive private equity firm bought our facility, slashing budgets and closing the charity wards. Patients were being turned away—people just like the version of me from ten years ago.

I stood up at the board meeting, my voice shaking but firm. "You are killing the people this hospital was built to serve."

They laughed. "You're just a resident, Dr. Brooks. Sit down."
