Chapter 6 - THE SILENT PARTNERJust as I was about to be fired, the board doors swung open. Dr. Thomas Grant walked in. He wasn't the man from the store anymore; he was a titan of industry, older but just as sharp.

"Dr. Brooks isn't leaving," he said, placing a document on the table. "I’ve just acquired a controlling interest in this hospital. And she is my new Chief of Medicine."

The room went deathly silent. My "debt" had just become the most powerful position in the city.
