Chapter 7 - THE REVELATIONThat night, in his office, I finally asked the question that had burned in me for fifteen years. "Why me, Dr. Grant? Why didn't you just give me the money and move on?"

He opened his desk drawer and pulled out a worn, yellowed piece of paper. It was my $15 note.
"I was a street kid in Baltimore too, Maya," he said quietly. "I had a sister who didn't make it because I couldn't find a doctor in time. You didn't just save your brother that night. You reminded me why I became a doctor in the first place."
