Chapter 10 - THE FINAL SURPRISEThe men lunged, but Mara triggered a hidden switch. The cabin was wired—I hadn't been idle. I had spent hours rigging the propane tanks.

The cabin blew, but we were already in the storm cellar.

As the foundation above us burned, I realized they were all dead. The 'hunters' were gone.

"Is it over?" I asked, holding Wren.

Mara looked at her own hand, which was already healing, the skin knitting back together in seconds. "It’s never over," she said, looking at our daughter. "But now, they’re the ones who should be afraid. We aren't just the prey anymore. We’re the predators."

I looked at Wren. The birthmark had faded into a faint, glowing scar. She wasn't just a child. She was the most powerful weapon on earth, and we were the only ones who knew how to point her at the people who had tried to take everything.
