Chapter 1 - The General's WrathThe screech of armored personnel carrier tires on wet asphalt shattered the eerie midnight calm outside Wakeview Medical Center. Before the convoy even came to a complete halt, heavy doors slammed open. Armed soldiers in full tactical gear poured out, securing every perimeter, every corridor, and every exit with cold, mechanical efficiency.

"Status," Martin commanded, his voice a low, vibrating growl that made the head physician swallow hard.

"General Hayes," the doctor stammered, stepping forward. "Your daughter Juliet suffered a severe placental abruption. We... we had to perform an emergency cesarean section."

Martin’s gaze narrowed into daggers. "And my grandchild? And my daughter?"

"Juliet is stable, but unconscious," the doctor whispered, terrified. "The baby... the baby was without oxygen for too long. We are running resus efforts, but..."

Martin didn't blink. He walked straight to the glass observation window. Inside, tiny monitors beeped with agonizing slowness. Behind him, his personal aide stepped up, snapping to a crisp salute.

"General. We have tracked Preston's phone. He is currently at the Grand Meridian Hotel in downtown Raleigh, attending a private birthday gala for his mother."

Martin's lips curled into a terrifying smile. "Lock down this hospital. Not a soul enters or leaves. And deploy a transport unit to bring Mr. Preston Montgomery to me. Alive."
