Chapter 2 - The Stolen LifeJohn didn't wait for the twins to lead him. He sprinted toward the gate, his heart hammering against his ribs like a trapped animal. The woman holding the baby looked terrified, her knuckles white as she cradled the child.

"Ben?" John whispered, his voice cracking.

The baby turned. He had John’s eyes—the same striking, intense blue. He let out a soft, familiar gurgle, reaching his tiny hands toward John. John collapsed to his knees, taking the baby from the woman’s arms. The weight of him—real, warm, breathing—was the most miraculous sensation John had ever known.

"Where... how did you find him?" John gasped, tears streaming down his face.

The woman, Sarah, stepped forward, her voice trembling. "The night of the fire, I was walking home through the woods behind your estate. I saw a man carrying a bundle. He tripped and dropped it, then ran when he heard sirens. I saw the baby moving... I couldn't just leave him."

John went cold. "A man? Did you see his face?"

Sarah looked at the twins, then back at John, her eyes filled with dread. "It was dark, sir. But he was wearing a ring. A signet ring with a specific crest. The same one you’re wearing right now."

John’s hand went to his own finger. The Morgan family crest. His brother Ryan’s ring.
