Chapter 5 - THE TERROR IN THE BASEMENTThe revelation changed everything. I wasn't just a victim testifying in a domestic abuse case; I was the primary witness in the biggest military treason trial of the decade.

Two days later, against the advice of my doctors, I demanded to go back to the property accompanied by my father and a team of federal agents. I needed to see it for myself.
The house was surrounded by yellow crime scene tape. The silence hanging over the estate was deafening.
We walked down into the basement—the place where Julian had locked me away whenever he wanted to 'calm me down.'
Agent Chen pointed a high-powered flashlight at the back brick wall. Two federal engineers were using ground-penetrating radar against the mortar.
“Right here,” the engineer said. “False wall.”
With heavy sledgehammers, the agents broke through the brickwork. Behind it wasn't old dirt or foundation—it was a heavy steel blast door with a digital keypad.
“Julian didn't have the code,” I said, remembering something from months ago. “He always went down here at 3:00 AM on Tuesdays, but he never brought keys. He used a biometric scanner on his phone.”
“We mirrored his phone data after his arrest,” Agent Chen said, tapping a tablet. She plugged a bypass device into the door’s interface.
With a heavy hydraulic hiss, the blast door unlocked and swung open.
The air that rushed out was cold, metallic, and smelled of industrial oil.
My father held his weapon ready as we stepped inside. Beyond the door was a massive, high-tech command center and storage depot built directly beneath my family's historic estate. Rows of crates filled with military guidance systems, night-vision tech, and classified drone hardware stretched as far as the light could reach.
“My God,” my father muttered, his eyes wide with shock. “They’ve been operating a black site under my wife’s land for three years.”
Suddenly, the heavy steel door behind us slammed shut with a thunderous BANG!
The lights in the room plunged into pitch darkness.
Red emergency lights flickered on, casting blood-red shadows across the room.

A loudspeaker overhead crackled to life.
“Colonel Sterling,” a distorted voice echoed through the room. “You really shouldn't have brought your pregnant daughter back to the scene of the crime.”
