Chapter 7 - The Collapse of the EmpireInside the Sterling mansion, the television screen flickered with Leah’s face.

Doreen froze, her coffee cup halfway to her mouth. The ceramic cracked as her grip tightened violently. “Turn that off!” she hissed, glaring at Nathan. “Call the station manager! Shut it down right now!”
Nathan fumbled with his phone, his hands shaking so violently he dropped the device onto the floor. The screen showed Leah exposing every single detail of the hospital plot—naming Dr. Celia Rusk, detailing the fake psychiatric evaluation, and holding up copies of the fraudulent legal documents signed by her own husband.
Within ten minutes, flashing blue and red lights cut through the darkness outside the iron gates of the Sterling estate. State police cruisers converged on the property from all directions. Sirens wailed, shattering the elite silence of the neighborhood.
Heavy pounding echoed against the grand front door.
“Open up! State police! Execute search and seizure warrants!” a booming voice echoed through the halls.
Nathan collapsed into a leather chair, his face completely drained of color. His career, his inheritance, his social standing, and his family name were evaporating in real-time before his eyes.

Doreen stood up, her posture rigid, her face contorted into a mask of pure venom. She walked toward the grand double doors not with fear, but with the arrogant defiance of someone who believed her money could still buy her way out.
“You fools think this changes anything?” Doreen muttered to herself as she unlocked the door to face the badge-wearing officers waiting outside.
