Chapter 8 - The New Year’s Boardroom ShowdownDecember 31st. 8:55 AM.

The executive boardroom at Pierce Global was packed to capacity. Journalists, shareholders, and board members sat in tense anticipation around the massive glass table.
Richard Pierce sat at the head of the table, wearing a smug, victorious grin. He checked his luxury watch. 8:58 AM.
“Well, ladies and gentlemen,” Richard announced, clearing his throat. “It is nearly nine o’clock. As my brother Nathan has failed to appear and is clearly incapable of executing his duties, I call for an immediate vote to strip him of his title and appoint me as permanent CEO.”
“Second the motion,” murmured Arthur Sterling, a corrupt board member secretly allied with Richard.
“Wait,” a calm, resonant voice echoed from the heavy oak double doors at the back of the room.
The doors swung wide open.
Nathan Pierce walked in.
He wasn't wearing his usual rumpled, exhausted suit. He wore a crisp, tailored charcoal-gray suit, his posture straight, his eyes burning with an intense, unyielding clarity that made even Richard recoil in shock. The grief that had haunted him for three years was gone, replaced by absolute, unbreakable purpose.
“You’re... you’re supposed to be hiding,” Richard stammered, standing up from his chair. “You missed the deadline!”
“I missed nothing, Richard,” Nathan said, walking smoothly to the head of the table. He didn't sit down. Instead, he slammed a thick manila folder onto the glass surface right in front of his brother.
“What is this?” Richard demanded, his voice cracking.
“That,” Nathan said, his voice echoing cleanly across the silent boardroom, “is a comprehensive audit of every unauthorized asset transfer, secret offshore account, and illegal stock manipulation you’ve orchestrated over the last three years while trying to force my ouster.”
The color drained entirely from Richard’s face.
“Furthermore,” Nathan continued, looking directly at the terrified board members, “every share you hold has been legally frozen under federal securities fraud investigations as of twenty minutes ago. Security is waiting outside to escort you out of the building, Richard.”

The room erupted into absolute chaos. Cameras flashed, reporters shouted questions, and security guards stepped into the room, gently placing their hands on Richard’s shoulders.
As his brother was dragged out of the boardroom, kicking and screaming, Nathan straightened his tie, turned to the stunned board members, and said calmly, “The meeting is adjourned. Happy New Year.”
