Chapter 6 - The Ultimate Betrayal

"What do you mean?" Norah asked, a sudden wave of unease washing over her.

"The ledger I gave you was a dummy," Stellan said smoothly. "The account numbers inside are real, but they belong to a massive federal sting operation. The moment Victor tries to access those funds, the FBI will freeze everything he owns. The Syndicate is finished."

Norah let out a breath she didn't know she was holding. "It's over. We're safe."

"Yes," Stellan said, stepping closer to her. "You are safe. Your brother's debt is cleared. But there is one final detail we need to take care of."

He looked past Norah, his gaze landing on Danny.

"Danny," Stellan said softly. "You betrayed my family. You put my daughter in a frozen river."

"Stellan, please!" Norah begged, stepping between them. "You promised!"

"I promised I wouldn't kill him," Stellan said. "And I won't. But he cannot stay in Chicago. I have arranged for him to be transferred to a private medical facility in Switzerland. He will receive the best care in the world. But he can never return to the United States. And you, Norah... you will stay here. With me."

Norah stared at him, the horrifying truth finally dawning on her.

This wasn't a rescue. It was a hostile takeover.

Stellan had orchestrated everything. He had known about Danny's debts from the very beginning. He had let the Syndicate make their move, knowing Norah would save Mia—or if she didn't, his security would. He had used Norah to destroy his rivals, and now, he had isolated her completely. She was trapped in his golden cage forever, bound by gratitude, fear, and a dark, twisted desire she couldn't deny.

"You planned this," Norah whispered, backing away. "All of it."

Stellan walked up to her, his fingers gently tangling in her hair, pulling her face up to meet his.

"I told you, Norah," he murmured, his breath warm against her lips. "In my world, a debt is never left unpaid. You saved my daughter. Now, you belong to me."
