Chapter 5 - The Lion AwakensAdrian Vale stood in the doorway.

His cashmere sweater was stained with a smear of cigar ash, his sleeves rolled up to his elbows, revealing the corded muscle and old tactical scars of a man who had survived a dozen turf wars. Behind him stood Caleb Mercer, holding a heavy tactical shotgun across his chest, his eyes locked entirely on Victor.
The room froze in absolute, breathless silence.
Victor’s hand holding the gun didn’t waver, but a single bead of sweat rolled down his silver-haired temple.
"Victor," Adrian said. His voice wasn't loud. It didn't need to be. It carried the absolute, crushing weight of an avalanche. "Put the gun down."
"Stay back, Adrian!" Victor barked, shifting the barrel from Hannah to Adrian’s chest. "Don't move an inch! I've wired the perimeter switches to the federal prosecutors in Manhattan. The moment my heartbeat stops on the biometric monitor, every single offshore account, ledger, and shipping manifest goes straight to District Attorney Vance!"
Adrian didn’t stop walking. He didn't even slow down.
"You think you're the first person in fifteen years to threaten me with federal prosecutors, Victor?" Adrian asked coldly, taking another measured step forward.
"I have the transfer codes, Adrian! You can't touch me without losing everything!" Victor screamed, his veneer of composed elegance finally shattering into panicked hysteria.
"Everything?" Adrian stopped five feet away from the barrel of the gun. A bitter, dangerous smile touched his lips. "You built this empire? No, Victor. My father built it with blood, and I maintained it with iron. You were just the accountant who thought the ink belonged to you."
"Boss, give the word," Caleb muttered from the doorway, raising the shotgun an inch.
"Don't shoot him," Adrian said softly, his eyes locked onto Victor’s trembling hands. "Let him pull the trigger."
Victor’s eyes widened in sheer disbelief. "You're insane!"
"Maybe," Adrian replied, his voice dropping to a terrifying whisper. "But before that bullet leaves the barrel, Caleb’s shotgun will scatter your ribs across the mahogany desk, and my men in Manhattan will have already dismantled every single shell corporation you set up in Zurich. You didn't steal an empire, Victor. You just signed your own death certificate."
Victor’s breath hitched. His fingers trembled violently around the grip of the Beretta. The sheer, overwhelming aura of absolute dominance radiating from Adrian crushed whatever resolve the old man had left.
With a choked gasp, Victor’s fingers relaxed. The heavy pistol slipped from his hand, clattering loudly against the hardwood floor.
Before Victor could even blink, Caleb crossed the room in two massive strides, slamming the traitor face-first against the mahogany desk and slapping steel cuffs onto his wrists.

Adrian didn’t even look down at Victor as guards dragged him out of the study.
Instead, he turned his complete, unblinking attention toward Hannah, who was slumped against the desk, trembling violently, tears finally breaking free down her cheeks.
