Chapter 9 - The Final Midnight at GrayhavenThe black Lincoln Navigator rolled through the iron gates of Grayhaven just past midnight.

The estate was bathed in the soft, golden glow of old-fashioned carriage lamps. Inside the grand foyer, Rosa Alvarez and the entire domestic staff had gathered, holding a makeshift banner that simply read: WELCOME HOME, MR. VALE.
Adrian stepped out of the car, breathing in the crisp night air of the Hudson Valley. The heavy weight that had crushed his shoulders for twelve long years was entirely gone.
As he walked through the front doors, little Lily came running down the hall at full speed, her pink slippers skidding across the polished marble floor.
She leaped directly into his arms.
Adrian caught her effortlessly, swinging her up against his chest with a bright, genuine laugh that none of his employees had ever heard before.
"You came back!" Lily cheered, wrapping her tiny arms tightly around his neck. "I knew your heart was singing!"
"I told you I would," Adrian whispered, burying his face softly against her curls.
Hannah walked slowly down the stairs, a soft, radiant smile touching her lips. When Adrian set Lily down to run off toward the kitchen with Rosa, he crossed the marble floor and stopped right in front of Hannah.
"The federal prosecutors are launching an internal ethics investigation into Vance," Adrian said softly, his eyes filled with a warmth that completely eclipsed his old intimidating aura. "Grayhaven is officially, permanently ours. No shadows. No syndicates. Just a home."
Hannah reached out, gently resting her hand directly over his chest—right where Lily had placed hers months ago.
"I know," Hannah whispered. "Your heart is finally making its own music."

Adrian covered her hand with his own, pulling her closer against him. For the first time in his life, the most feared man in northern New York didn't need a fortress, a weapon, or a wall.
He had already won everything that mattered.
