CHAPTER 5: THE LITTLE GIRL WHO CALLED HER "MOM"

Emma's world collapsed.

Lily was gone.

The hospital room was empty except for the handwritten note.

"Phase Two Complete."

Doctors rushed into the room.

Nurses searched every hallway.

Security officers locked down the entire hospital.

But it was already too late.

No one had seen who took Lily.

No surveillance footage.

No fingerprints.

Nothing.

It was as if the little girl had vanished into thin air.

An hour later...

A detective named Michael Brooks arrived.

He quietly listened as Emma explained everything—the mysterious phone calls, Daniel's confession, the DNA report, and Lily's disappearance.

When she finished, Michael didn't say a word.

Instead, he placed a thick file on the table.

"I think you need to see this."

Emma opened it.

Inside were dozens of missing-child cases dating back nearly ten years.

Every victim...

A little girl.

Every family...

Received anonymous phone calls before the child disappeared.

Every investigation...

Ended without a single arrest.

Emma looked up.

"What does this have to do with Lily?"

Michael swallowed hard.

"Every missing girl had the exact same birthmark."

Emma's heart stopped.

"The crescent moon behind the left ear."

The room spun.

Lily wasn't the first.

She was part of something much bigger.

Just then...

Emma's phone vibrated.

This time, it wasn't an unknown number.

It was a video message.

No sender.

No location.

With trembling hands, she pressed Play.

The screen flickered.

A dark room appeared.

Lily sat alone in a small wooden chair.

She wasn't crying.

She looked directly into the camera.

"Mommy..."

Emma burst into tears.

"Lily!"

Then a masked man stepped into the frame.

He gently placed a hand on Lily's shoulder.

But instead of hurting her...

He smiled.

"Don't worry," he said calmly.

"She's perfectly safe."

Emma screamed into the phone.

"Who are you? What do you want?"

The man ignored her.

Instead, he leaned closer to Lily and whispered,

"Tell Mommy what you remembered."

Lily looked confused.

Then...

She quietly spoke words that made everyone in the room freeze.

"Mommy..."

"I don't think you're my real mommy."

Emma felt her legs give way.

"No..."

Lily continued, her voice trembling.

"I remembered another woman."

"She used to sing me the same lullaby."

"And..."

"There was another little girl."

"They looked exactly like me."

The video suddenly glitched.

Before it ended, the masked man removed one black glove.

On the back of his hand...

Was the same crescent-shaped birthmark.

The screen went black.

Seconds later, another message appeared.

"If you want Lily back alive... come alone."

May you like

Then, beneath it, one final line appeared.

"Bring the woman who stole her six years ago."
