CHAPTER 2: THE SECRET THAT DESTROYED A PERFECT LIFE

The airport fell completely silent.

Even the departure announcements seemed distant.

Ethan lunged toward the little girl, trying to snatch the photograph away.

Before he could reach her...

An elderly woman stepped between them.

"You'll have to go through me first."

Security officers immediately noticed the confrontation and began walking over.

The little girl burst into tears.

"My mommy told me... if anything happened to her... I had to find Daddy and give him this."

From inside Bunny's torn stuffing...

...she pulled out a tiny silver flash drive.

Ethan's face turned ghost white.

"No..."

The younger woman stared at him.

"What is on that drive?"

He didn't answer.

Instead, he tried to leave.

Too late.

One of the security officers asked him to remain where he was until they understood the situation.

The elderly woman handed the flash drive to airport police.

Moments later, they plugged it into a nearby computer.

A single video appeared.

The timestamp read:

Seven years earlier.

On the screen, a frightened young woman looked directly into the camera.

"If you're watching this... I didn't survive."

"I loved my husband..."

"...but I discovered he was stealing millions from his own company."

Tears rolled down her face.

"When I threatened to expose him..."

"...he told everyone we were taking a romantic trip."

She paused.

"If anything happens during that trip..."

"It wasn't an accident."

Every eye slowly turned toward Ethan.

The younger woman stepped away from him in disbelief.

"You... killed your own wife?"

Ethan shouted.

"She's lying! That video is fake!"

But then...

The elderly woman quietly smiled.

"There was one thing your wife never told you."

Everyone looked at her.

"I was the lead detective assigned to her case."

She reached into her purse and placed an old police badge on the counter.

"I retired because there wasn't enough evidence..."

"...until today."

Police officers immediately surrounded Ethan.

He tried to run.

He made it only three steps before being tackled to the polished airport floor.

As handcuffs clicked around his wrists...

The little girl looked at him with tears in her eyes.

"I didn't come here because I wanted my daddy back."

She took a deep breath.

"I came because Mommy said the truth always finds its way home."

The entire terminal erupted into stunned silence.

But no one noticed one final detail...

As detectives reviewed the flash drive again, they discovered a second hidden file.

It wasn't addressed to the police.

It wasn't addressed to Ethan.

It was addressed...

To the little girl.
