CHAPTER 2 — "The Photograph That Changed Everything"

The old butler hurried toward Emma before anyone could stop him.

His trembling hands reached for the necklace.

"Where did you get this?"

Emma stepped back nervously.

"My mother gave it to me before she died."

Victoria rolled her eyes.

"Enough of this ridiculous performance."

But the butler ignored her.

Instead, he rushed upstairs and returned moments later carrying a dusty wooden box no one had opened in decades.

Inside...

Lay an old black-and-white family photograph.

The guests leaned closer.

Then...

Every face turned white.

The young woman standing beside the Sterling family patriarch was wearing...

The exact same necklace.

On the back of the photograph was a handwritten message:

"To my daughter, Amelia. One day this necklace will lead you back home."

Emma stared in disbelief.

"My mother's name... was Amelia."

Victoria's confident smile disappeared.

The old butler could barely breathe.

"I knew it..."

"Miss Amelia never ran away."

"She was forced out."

A heavy silence swallowed the ballroom.

Then another voice echoed from the entrance.

"I've been waiting twenty-three years for someone to find that photograph."

Everyone turned.

An elderly lawyer walked inside carrying a sealed envelope marked:

LAST WILL OF HENRY STERLING

The lawyer looked directly at Emma.

"If you're truly Amelia's daughter..."

"Everything in this mansion..."

"Already belongs to you."

Ethan felt the blood drain from his face.

Victoria stumbled backward.

Because the servant she had humiliated in front of everyone...

Wasn't a servant at all.

May you like

She was the rightful heir to the entire Sterling fortune.

And the will contained one final secret that would send a member of the Sterling family to prison...
