Chapter 10 - The Ultimate Twist & A New Beginning“The blood test results came back from the lab, revealing the truth about the nanny’s daughter…”Two days after the arrest of Julian and Victoria, the storm had finally cleared over the Carter estate.

The sun was shining bright over the sprawling green gardens. Daisy was running across the lawn, chasing a golden retriever puppy that Ethan had bought for her, while the triplets—Mason, Michael, and Madison—ran alongside her, laughing and protecting her like big brothers and a protective sister.

I stood on the second-floor balcony, holding a warm cup of coffee, watching them play.

A pair of strong arms gently wrapped around my waist from behind. Ethan rested his chin on my shoulder, breathing in the scent of my hair.

"You look beautiful," Ethan murmured softly.

"I look like a tired mom," I chuckled softly, leaning back into his warm, firm chest. "Thank you for the puppy. Daisy hasn't stopped smiling."

"She deserves the world," Ethan said. Then, his arms tightened slightly around me. "Naomi... there’s something I need to show you. Something Dr. Thorne found when he was preparing Daisy’s heart surgery."

I turned around in his arms, frowning in confusion. "Is she sick again? Is something wrong with her valve?"

"No, she’s completely healthy," Ethan reassured me quickly, pulling a sealed medical document from his coat pocket. "When Dr. Thorne ran the rare blood antigen matching test for Daisy’s heart valve, he found a match in our private family cord-blood bank. A match that shouldn't have existed unless..."

Ethan opened the paper and handed it to me.

My eyes scanned the medical jargon until they stopped at the bottom line:

DNA Match Analysis: Subject Daisy Johnson shares 25% genetic markers (First-Degree Niece) with deceased subject Sarah Carter.

My jaw dropped. The coffee cup nearly slipped from my hand. "What... what does this mean?"

"Before your late husband died six years ago, did he ever tell you he was adopted?" Ethan asked gently.

"Yes..." I stammered, my head spinning. "He never knew his biological parents."

"My late wife, Sarah, had a younger brother who was put up for adoption thirty years ago when her parents divorced," Ethan explained, his eyes shining with emotion. "Your late husband was Sarah's lost younger brother. Naomi... Daisy isn't just a child you brought into this house. She is my children’s biological cousin. She is Sarah’s niece."

Tears welled up in my eyes as the impossible truth washed over me. Fate hadn't brought me to this mansion by accident. Daisy’s condition, the nanny job, the survival of the triplets—it was all connected by blood and love.

"When Sarah died, I thought my family was broken forever," Ethan whispered, taking both of my hands in his. "I shut myself off from the world. My kids became wild because they were starving for love and terrified of losing me. And then... you walked through those doors."

Ethan dropped down to one knee right there on the balcony beneath the Texas sun.

He pulled a velvet box from his pocket—not the stolen diamonds, but a magnificent, sparkling platinum ring holding a brilliant solitaire diamond.

"Naomi Johnson," Ethan said, his voice filled with deep, undeniable devotion. "You saved my children from despair. You saved my life from a monster. And you brought light back into this dead house. I don't want a nanny for my kids. I want a mother for them, and a partner for myself. Will you marry me?"

Down on the lawn, the children stopped playing. Mason, Michael, Madison, and little Daisy looked up at the balcony, shouting at the top of their lungs:

"SAY YES, NAOMI!" Mason screamed.

"SAY YES!" Madison and Michael cheered together.

I looked down at the four children laughing together in the sunlight, then looked down at the extraordinary man kneeling before me.

"Yes," I sobbed, laughing through my tears. "A thousand times, yes!"

Ethan stood up, pulling me into a fierce, passionate kiss as the children cheered from below.

The twelve women before me had failed because they saw a job, a fortune, or a nightmare. But I saw a family that needed saving—and in saving them, I had found my forever home.
