Chapter 1 - THE FOUR-YEAR LIES AND THE DNA REVEAL

Viral Hook: “She thought she was marrying a billionaire, but she just walked into her worst nightmare. The moment Nolan looked at the child’s eyes, the $10 million engagement ring became a golden noose.”
“Three years,” Mae whispered, her voice barely audible over the roaring silence of the parlor. She squeezed Nora closer to her chest, her knuckles turning stark white. “She’s three years and four months old, Nolan.”
Nolan’s breath hitched. He didn't need a calculator to do the math. Three years and four months ago. Plus nine months of pregnancy. It aligned perfectly with that stormy, unforgettable week in Paris—the week before Mae suddenly resigned as his personal assistant without a word, vanishing into the night and leaving behind nothing but a cold email saying she wanted a different life.
“This is a scam!” Celeste’s voice shrilled, shattering the tension. She took a step forward, her high heels clicking aggressively against the marble. “Nolan, open your eyes! She’s a gold-digger. She knew you were getting married today. She planned this! She put her brat on that piano hoping you’d walk in. You’re going to let a maid ruin our lives with a cheap lie?”
Nolan didn’t look at his fiancée. His eyes were locked on Mae’s tear-streaked face. “Mae. Look at me. Is she mine?”
Mae closed her eyes, a single tear escaping and tracing a path down her pale cheek. She didn't want this. She had returned to Ashford House only because her mother’s medical bills had piled up, and she needed a job where she could keep Nora close. She had promised herself she would keep her head down, clean the rooms, and never let Nolan see the child. But today, Nora had wandered off while Mae was in the laundry room.
“Nolan, please,” Mae sobbed. “Just let us leave. I won't ever bring her back here. I won't ask you for a single dime. Just let me take my daughter.”
“Your daughter?” Nolan’s voice trembled with a mixture of awe and rising fury. He stepped closer, kneeling back down until he was at eye level with the little girl. Nora didn’t flinch this time. She reached out a tiny, hesitant hand, her small fingers brushing against Nolan’s cheek.
Her gray-green, silver-centered eyes blinked. “You have the same eyes, mister. Why are you sad?”
Nolan’s heart shattered. The resemblance wasn’t just a coincidence; it was an undeniable, biological mirror.
“Nolan!” Celeste grabbed his arm, her manicured nails digging into his expensive suit jacket. “Stop this madness right now! The guests are arriving in two hours for our engagement brunch. The media is already at the gates. We are supposed to announce our wedding date! Kick this woman out of your house, or I swear to God, I will call security myself!”
Nolan slowly stood up. He looked down at Celeste’s hand on his arm, then up at her face. For the first time, he saw past the perfectly styled hair, the designer dress, and the sweet perfume. He saw the cold, vicious woman who had just shoved a three-year-old child onto a marble floor.
“Get your hands off me,” Nolan said, his voice drop-dead cold.
Celeste froze, her mouth slightly open. “What?”
“The brunch is postponed,” Nolan announced, his voice echoing off the high ceilings. “And you are going to wait in the study.”
“I am your fiancée!” Celeste shrieked.
“And I am the owner of this house,” Nolan shot back, his eyes flashing with a terrifying darkness. He turned to his butler, Arthur, who had just entered the room after hearing the commotion. “Arthur. Call Dr. Sterling. Tell him to bring a rapid DNA testing kit to the estate immediately. And call a private pediatrician to examine Nora. If there is a single scratch on her from being pushed, I want it documented.”

Mae gasped, looking up in panic. “Nolan, no, please, don’t do this. Don't take her from me.”
Nolan’s expression softened as he looked at Mae, but the resolve in his eyes was absolute. “I am not taking her from you, Mae. But if she is my daughter, I am never letting either of you go again. And as for you, Celeste...” He glared at his fiancée, whose face had gone completely pale. “You better pray that DNA test comes back negative. Because if she is mine, what you did to her today is going to cost you everything.”
