Chapter 7 - The Trap SpringsBefore Natalie could process the seismic shift in his words, the glass balcony doors behind them shattered with an explosive crash.

"Get down!" Dominic roared, tackling Natalie to the stone floor just as a hail of silenced gunfire ripped through the night air, shattering the crystal glasses on the cocktail tables nearby.

Chaos erupted inside the ballroom. Screams echoed over the sound of breaking glass and heavy boots thundering toward the terrace.

Ethan Cole materialized from the smoke, firing his weapon expertly toward the shadows of the exit corridor. "Boss! We’ve been compromised! Vance’s men jammed our comms!"

Dominic pulled Natalie up, keeping her shielded behind his broad frame. His face was a mask of cold, lethal fury—the true face of Chicago’s coldest mafia boss, unleashed.

"Ethan, get her to the armored town car. Take the subterranean exit," Dominic ordered, handing Ethan a heavy encrypted satellite phone.

"I'm not leaving you here!" Natalie shouted over the gunfire, grabbing Dominic's lapel.

Dominic looked down at her, cupping her face with a hand stained lightly with gunpowder residue. His eyes were fierce, burning with an emotion that terrified him more than any bullet. "I built this empire to protect what's mine, Natalie. And you are mine. Now go!"

Before she could argue, Ethan hoisted her over his shoulder with tactical precision, dragging her toward the emergency service elevator as more shots echoed across the terrace.
