Chapter 3 - The Confrontation in the Shadows

🔴 TRENDING: "A Father’s Revenge: He Discovered His Wife’s Secret, And Now There’s No Turning Back."Diego returned to the auditorium and took his seat in the front row. To his left sat Karla, smelling of luxury. To his right sat Armando, the patriarch of poison.

"Is she settled?" Karla asked, leaning in close, her breath warm against his ear.

"Yes. She's fine," Diego replied, not looking at her.

"You seem tense, Diego," Armando remarked from his other side, his voice a low rumble. "You've barely spoken to me tonight. Is something troubling you?"

"Just work, Father," Diego lied, his eyes fixed on the empty stage. "A lot of pressure lately."

"An Arriaga does not buckle under pressure," Armando said coldly. "We dominate it. Remember that."

Diego swallowed his rage, focusing on his phone in his lap. A notification popped up.

Javier: Files received. Diego... my God. This is sick. The conversation between your wife and your father... it’s monstrous. We are moving in. ETA 20 minutes. Keep them in the building. Do not let them suspect anything.

The lights in the auditorium began to dim. The crowd fell silent. The announcer stepped up to the microphone, welcoming the guests to the annual spring recital.

But as the first young performer walked onto the stage, Karla leaned closer to Diego. Her hand slid into his jacket, playfully searching for his phone. Instead, her fingers brushed against the hard, metallic edge of the hidden tablet.

Diego froze.

Karla’s hand stopped. Her eyes widened in the dim light of the theater. She knew that tablet. It was the old one she had given Renata months ago.

"Diego..." she whispered, her voice suddenly stripping away all sweetness, replaced by a cold, venomous panic. "What is that in your pocket?"

"Nothing," Diego whispered back, grabbing her wrist and pulling her hand away. "Drop it, Karla."

"Is that Renata’s tablet?" she demanded, her voice rising slightly. Armando turned his head, his sharp eyes locking onto them.

"What is going on?" Armando whispered sternly.

"Diego has Renata’s tablet," Karla hissed, her face pale with sudden realization. "The one we couldn't find. Armando... she had a camera in her room. I told you I thought she was recording things!"

The atmosphere in their row instantly turned electric with danger. Armando’s face transformed from a smug patriarch into a cold-blooded predator. He leaned across Karla, his eyes drilling into Diego.

"Give me the tablet, Diego," Armando commanded, his voice a lethal, quiet threat. "Right now."

"No," Diego said, his voice steady, his eyes burning with a hatred he no longer cared to hide. "It’s over, Father. Both of you. It’s over."

Armando didn't panic. He slowly reached into his suit jacket, revealing the handle of a sleek, black pistol tucked into his shoulder holster. He didn't pull it out, but he made sure Diego saw it.

"We are going to stand up, quietly, and walk out of this theater," Armando whispered, his voice devoid of any human emotion. "If you make a sound, if you try to run, I will have my men backstage make sure your daughter has an 'accident' before she ever touches that piano. Do you understand me, boy?"

Diego’s blood ran cold. He had underestimated the sheer ruthlessness of his father. Armando wasn't just an abuser; he was a monster who would kill his own granddaughter to protect his reputation.

"Alright," Diego whispered, his heart shattering. "Alright. Just don't hurt her."

"Stand up," Armando ordered.

Together, the three of them stood up and quietly exited the row, slipping out of the side doors of the auditorium into the dimly lit, empty hallway of the cultural center.
