When the sharp, beautiful cry of a newborn baby echoed down the sterile white corridor, Dominic was the first person through the door.
Dr. Sterling handed him a tiny bundle wrapped in soft blue flannel.
Dominic looked down at the infant’s dark hair and tiny, perfect fingers, tears finally spilling over his cheeks. He carried the baby straight to the hospital bed, sitting beside me and pressing the infant gently into my arms before leaning down to kiss my forehead.
"She has your eyes," Dominic whispered, his voice thick with emotion.
