Chapter 10 - The Unseen EmpireThree months later, the Moretti organization was stronger, leaner, and entirely purged of internal rot. The northern families in New Jersey, lacking leadership after Vivian’s exile and Luca’s disappearance, had quietly sued for peace, submitting to Alessandro’s terms without firing a single shot.

On a crisp December morning, Alessandro stood on the mansion's terrace, looking out over the snow-covered rose garden. The estate was quiet—not the oppressive, fearful silence of a criminal stronghold guarded by paranoia, but the peaceful quiet of a home truly protected.

From behind him came the light, rapid patter of small bare feet on polished hardwood.

Alessandro turned with a warm smile just as little Lily ran out onto the terrace, bundled up in a thick red woolen coat, clutching her threadbare gray rabbit tightly under one arm. Behind her walked Rosa, now carrying a steaming cup of coffee, her head held high with quiet confidence and unbreakable dignity.

Lily stopped right in front of Alessandro, looked up with her wide, expressive eyes, and raised her small hands to sign a greeting he had finally learned by heart:

May you like

Morning, my friend.

Alessandro knelt down, returning the sign with absolute precision, knowing that the most formidable empire in the world wasn't built on bullets, goldor fear—it was built on the courage of those who saw the truth in the silence.
