CHAPTER 2 — The Locker at Platform 9

Ethan didn’t run after the old woman.
He couldn’t.
Because the moment she collapsed, his father shouted the words that froze him in place.
“Get my son away from her!”
My son.
Not “help her.”
Not “call an ambulance.”
Get my son away.
That was when Ethan understood…
His father wasn’t shocked.
He was afraid.
Two security men grabbed the elderly woman before the crowd could see her face clearly. Another stepped in front of Ethan, blocking his view.
“Sir, please step back.”
Ethan looked down.
The brass key was still hidden inside his fist.
317.
A train station locker.
A dead secret.
A mother who had supposedly abandoned him.
And a father who smiled when the only witness collapsed.
Ethan forced himself to breathe.
Then he did the one thing Richard Calloway never expected.
He walked toward the microphone.
The ballroom fell silent again.
Cameras turned.
His father’s smile disappeared.
Ethan adjusted his suit, stared directly into the flashing lights, and said calmly:
“I’m sorry, everyone. Tonight’s charity auction is over.”
Gasps spread through the room.
Then Ethan added:
“And tomorrow morning… I will be making a statement about my family.”
Richard’s face turned pale.
For the first time in Ethan’s life…
His father looked old.
At 2:17 a.m., Ethan arrived at the abandoned central train station alone.
No driver.
No bodyguards.
No assistant.
Only the key.
Locker 317 stood at the end of a dark hallway, covered in dust.
His hand shook as he pushed the key inside.
Click.
The locker opened.
Inside was a small leather bag.
A cassette tape.
A bundle of letters.
And one hospital bracelet.
Ethan picked it up.
His name was printed on it.
But underneath his name…
Was another name.
Baby Calloway — Twin B.
Ethan stopped breathing.
Twin B?
He tore open the first letter.
The handwriting was soft, rushed, desperate.
My sweet Ethan, if you ever find this, it means I failed to come back for you.
But please believe me… I never left you.
Your father took you from me.
And he took your brother too.
Ethan stumbled backward.
Brother?
He had a brother?
Then the cassette player clicked on by itself.
A woman’s trembling voice filled the empty station.
“Ethan… my darling boy… if you are hearing this, your father has lied to you your entire life.”
Tears blurred his vision.
The voice continued.
“You were not abandoned. You were hidden. Your brother was sold. And I was locked away before I could expose him.”
Suddenly—
A footstep echoed behind him.
Ethan turned.
A man stood at the end of the hallway.
Same height.
Same eyes.
Same face.
Older clothes.
Harder expression.
Like Ethan’s reflection…
After a lifetime of suffering.
The stranger looked at him and whispered:
“So you finally found out.”
Ethan’s blood turned cold.
“Who are you?”
The man stepped into the light.
And Ethan dropped the letter.
Because he already knew the answer.
May you like
The stranger smiled bitterly.
“I’m the brother your father erased.”
