Chapter 4 - The Boardroom ExecutionThe air inside the noodle shop felt as though it had dropped below freezing. Director Vance’s knees buckled slightly, his expensive leather shoes squeaking against the linoleum as he took an involuntary half-step backward.

"M-Madam Vance... I don't understand," Vance stammered, sweat instantly beading along his receding hairline. "We... we have no business dealings. Vance Real Estate operates independently of your conglomerate. If... if our acquisition of this block has somehow interfered with your portfolio—"
"Interfered?" Maya interrupted, her voice cutting through the humid air like a scalpel. She slowly picked up the black calfskin dossier from the counter and held it out, letting it dangle loosely by its silver clasp. "Director Vance, your entire empire doesn't even amount to a rounding error on my quarterly tax returns. You didn't interfere with my portfolio. You interfered with my past."
Vance swallowed hard, his throat dry as bone. He looked from Maya to Master Chen, whose calm, weathered expression hadn't shifted an inch. A cold, creeping realization began to claw at the back of Vance’s mind.
"Fifteen years ago," Maya continued, stepping out from the shadows so the fluorescent light caught the sharp angles of her face, "your father was the chief managing director of the Vance Estate. Do you remember the family living in the estate's servants' quarters? The accountant who discovered that your father was embezzling pension funds to fund his mistress's lifestyle?"
Vance’s face turned the color of curdled milk. His mouth opened, but no sound came out.
"You locked us out in the dead of winter," Maya’s voice rose, vibrating with a suppressed fury that made the glass windows rattle in their frames. "You threw my mother's belongings into the freezing mud, and when she begged for a blanket, your father set his security dogs on us. She died of pneumonia three days later, in the alley right behind this very shop."
She stepped closer, towering over the trembling CEO.
"You thought you buried that scandal along with her paupers' grave. But you forgot one thing, Director Vance. Hatred doesn't die. It trains. It grows teeth."
"You... you're..." Vance whispered, his eyes wide with absolute terror. "You're the little girl..."
"I am," Maya smiled, a terrifying, razor-sharp expression that reached her eyes. "And for the past ten years, I’ve been systematically buying up every single debt, every mortgage, every subsidiary, and every silent partnership tied to Vance Real Estate Development."
She casually tossed the heavy black dossier onto the counter. It slid across the wood and bumped against Vance’s trembling stomach.
"As of 9:00 AM this morning," Maya said smoothly, checking her diamond-encrusted wristwatch, "your board of directors held an emergency vote. Every single one of your major institutional lenders called in their loans simultaneously. Your accounts have been frozen, your assets seized under federal investigation for corporate fraud and embezzlement—tracing all the way back to your father's original crimes—and your corporate charter has been permanently revoked."
Vance stared down at the dossier in horror. With trembling fingers, he flipped open the cover. The very first page was a federal arrest warrant, signed and sealed just twenty minutes ago, paired with a notice of corporate liquidation.
"No..." Vance gasped, clutching his chest as the reality of his total, catastrophic ruin crashed down on him. "No, you can't do this! I'll fight you in court! I have judges in my pocket! I have—"
"You have nothing," Maya cut him off, her voice dropping to a whisper of absolute finality. "Except handcuffs."
On cue, the front door swung open wide, admitting a gust of cold rain and four heavily armed federal marshals accompanied by the city’s chief prosecutor. They didn't even knock. They walked straight past the trembling private security guards, who didn't dare lift a finger against the private army surrounding Maya Vance.
"Director Vance," the lead marshal announced, flashing a gleaming silver badge. "You are under arrest for corporate fraud, money laundering, and racketeering. Anything you say can and will be used against you."
As the cold steel cuffs snapped onto Vance’s wrists, he let out a strangled, pathetic sob, collapsing to his knees on the very linoleum floor where he had stood threatening an old man just minutes before. The marshals dragged him out into the rain, his expensive Italian loafers dragging uselessly across the pavement.
Silence settled back over the noodle shop.
Master Chen let out a long, slow breath, pouring himself a cup of green tea from a cracked ceramic pot. He didn't look at the door. He simply looked across the counter at the woman who had just dismantled an empire in less than three minutes.
"You took down a giant," Chen murmured, blowing gently on the steaming tea. "But giants always have brothers, child. What comes next?"
May you like
Maya picked up the velvet pouch containing her three original coins, slipping it gently into her pocket. Her fierce expression softened for just a fraction of a second as she looked at the old man.
"What comes next, Master Chen," Maya said softly, turning toward the door, "is the rest of the bloodline. And I brought a very special guest to help me finish the job."
