The transformation was breathtaking. While the rustic, vintage charm of her father's original design—down to the crooked red embroidery on the apron that read cook with heart—was meticulously preserved, the interior was modernized, clean, and safe. The community of Crestwood flooded back, though this time, an unspoken aura of respect and caution hung in the air. Everyone knew who owned the shield protecting this place now.

Old Ray sat back at his usual corner table, sipping his coffee, his forehead healed without a mark.

Outside, parked along the curb, was the familiar black Maybach.

Inside the car, Marcus glanced back at Knox, who was watching the diner through tinted windows from across the street. "Boss, we've secured the regional shipping lanes. The council in the city wants a meeting tomorrow."

Knox didn't look away from the diner's window, where Belle was currently laughing while handing a plate of pancakes to a regular customer, with Caesar resting his massive chin contentedly on her boot.

"Tell them it can wait," Knox said quietly, leaning back into his seat. "Some things are more important."

He closed his eyes for a moment, listening to the gentle crash of the waves against the Crestwood shore, knowing that for the first time in a very long time, the storm had finally passed.
