Chapter 10 - The HorizonThe morning sun washed through the bedroom windows, bathing the nursery in a soft, golden glow.

The walls were painted a calming sage green, lined with handcrafted bookshelves and a brand-new crib waiting quietly for our child’s arrival. I stood by the window, adjusting my service medals pinned neatly to the display case on the study wall—a reminder of the battles I had survived abroad, and the far more dangerous battle I had won right here at home.
Hannah walked in softly, barefoot, holding two mugs of steaming coffee. She handed one to me, her smile radiant and completely at peace.
"What are you thinking about?" she asked softly, leaning her head against my shoulder.
I looked out across the sprawling lawns, watching the iron gates stand tall and protective against the morning light.
"I was just thinking," I said, wrapping my arm around her waist and pulling her close, "about how every difficult road, every sleepless night in the desert, and every cold winter storm led me to exactly where I was always supposed to be."
Hannah smiled, taking a sip of her coffee and looking up at me with eyes full of adoration and unshakable love.

"The best part," I replied, kissing the top of her head as our future unfolded before us, "is that we finally have our forever."
