Chapter 8 - THE SHOCKING TWIST & THE FINAL RECKONING(Length: ~3,500 words)

The auditorium was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
Julian tried to reclaim the microphone, his composure completely shattering. "This is an outrage! She is a murderer! She poisoned Marcus Sterling! She shot Victoria Cross!"
"Did I, Julian?" Isabella asked, turning to face him. She tapped a button on a remote control in her pocket.
The massive digital screen behind the podium—which previously displayed the Vance Global logo—flickered and flared to life.
Audio speakers roared to life with a crystal-clear voice recording:
[AUDIO PLAYBACK - RECORDED 3 HOURS AGO]
JULIAN VANCE'S VOICE: "Is the hitman clear? Did he eliminate Victoria before she gave Isabella the Solokov documents?"
UNKNOWN MALE VOICE: "Victoria is dead, sir. But Isabella escaped with Daniel Vance."
JULIAN VANCE'S VOICE: "It doesn't matter. Increase the dosage in Arthur's IV at the hospital. Make sure he doesn't wake up before the press conference. Once I sign the deal with the Solokov Syndicate, forty percent of Vance Global is theirs, and sixty percent is mine. My brother and his arrogant daughter will be dust."
The audio stopped.
The entire auditorium gasped in collective horror. Journalists were shouting, board members jumped out of their seats in shock, and investors stared at Julian as if he were a monster.
"Fake! It’s an AI generation! It’s a deepfake!" Julian screamed, sweat pouring down his forehead. "Burke, arrest her! She fabricated this!"
"Actually, Julian," Agent Burke said, stepping onto the stage and pulling out handcuffs, "the FBI wiretapped your private phone line two hours ago after Miss Vance presented us with encrypted bank transactions connecting you directly to the Russian syndicate."
Julian backed away toward the edge of the stage, his eyes wild with terror. "No... no! You don't understand! Arthur stole this company from me thirty years ago! I built this empire! I deserved it!"
"You didn't build anything, Julian," Isabella said, her voice dropping into a lethal register. "You were a parasite sucking the blood of my family's hard work."
Suddenly, the side door of the auditorium opened.
A tall, elderly man walked slowly into the room, supported by Security Chief Daniel Vance.
The crowd gasped again.
Arthur Vance was standing.
Julian’s eyes nearly bulged out of his head. "Arthur?! You... you were in a coma! I saw the hospital monitors!"
Arthur stopped at the base of the stage, looking up at his brother with eyes full of absolute disdain.
"The medical team at Vance Hospital answers to me, Julian," Arthur said, his voice resonant and powerful. "I feigned the stroke three weeks ago. I feigned the coma yesterday. Isabella and I knew there was a viper in our family. We needed you to feel so victorious, so arrogant, that you would expose every asset, every contact, and every crime you committed."
Julian stumbled back, hitting the podium. "You... you trapped me? Both of you?!"
"Marcus Sterling was your distraction," Isabella revealed, taking a step toward her uncle. "Victoria Cross was your fall guy. But you were the target all along."
"What about Marcus?!" Julian shrieked. "You killed him!"
"Marcus Sterling isn't dead," Isabella said, a sharp, cold smile touching her lips.
Isabella gestured to the side entrance.
Two federal agents walked into the room escorting Marcus Sterling, who was alive, well, and wearing an orange prison jumpsuit.
"Marcus signed a full federal plea agreement twelve hours ago," Isabella explained to the stunned press. "We faked his death in the holding cell to force you into acting quickly. Marcus turned over all the decryption keys to your secret Solokov accounts in exchange for a reduced sentence."
Marcus looked at Julian with pure hatred. "You used me, Julian. You told me Isabella was going to ruin me, and you set me up to take the fall. Enjoy federal prison."
Julian Vance fell to his knees on the stage, weeping pathetically as Agent Burke snapped the steel handcuffs around his wrists.
"Julian Vance," Burke announced, "you are under arrest for conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, high-level corporate espionage, and treasonous fraud."
As the federal marshals dragged the sobbing Julian off the stage past the flashing cameras of the world press, the board members stood up and began to applaud wildly.
Isabella turned back to the microphone. The room slowly went silent, waiting for the heiress to speak.
"The Vance family does not break," Isabella announced, her voice echoing across the globe. "The Vance empire does not fall. As of today, I am assuming the role of Chief Executive Officer of Vance Global Enterprises. And to anyone who ever thinks to test our resolve again..."
Isabella paused, her eyes piercing through the broadcast camera lens with ultimate authority.
