Chapter 3 - The Trap Re-EngineeredThe heavy footsteps echoing against the concrete made the fake driver freeze mid-stride.

He spun around, his hand instinctively dropping toward his hip. But before his fingers could wrap around the grip of his concealed firearm, Lorenzo crossed the distance with terrifying, predatory speed.

Crack.

Lorenzo’s fist connected squarely with the fake driver’s jaw, sending him crashing backward against the polished side of the Mercedes. The man gasped, his eyes rolling back as blood sprayed from his lip. Before he could slide to the ground, Lorenzo grabbed him by the lapels of Enzo’s stolen coat and slammed him against the steel door.

“Who sent you?” Lorenzo whispered, his voice dangerously low, pressing the cold barrel of his Beretta beneath the man's chin.

The assassin spat a mouthful of blood, a crooked, defiant smile twisting his face. “You... you're already dead, Duca. The timer is set. The tunnel is a tinderbox—”

Bang.

A single, suppressed shot echoed through the underground garage.

The assassin slumped limply to the concrete. Lorenzo didn't blink. He calmly wiped his gun, holstered it, and turned to Sophia, who was shielding Emma’s eyes.

“Sophia, take Emma back to the private panic room in the east wing. Lock the steel doors. Do not open them for anyone—do not even answer the internal intercom—unless you hear me give the family passcode.”

“Mr. Duca... please be careful,” Sophia choked out, her voice shaking as she scooped Emma up. “Marco... Marco is out there.”

“I know,” Lorenzo replied, his eyes flashing with ice. “That’s why this game is about to change.”
