Chapter 4 - The Eastern TunnelTen minutes later, the black Mercedes pulled out of the courtyard gates.

Marco Rizzo stood near the gatehouse, watching the car roll forward. He adjusted his charcoal coat, a triumphant, invisible smile pulling at the corner of his mouth. Everything was in place. The explosives planted inside the eastern tunnel were wired to a remote detonator. In less than twenty minutes, the Duca dynasty would be vaporized, and Marco would step smoothly into the seat of power as the undisputed Don of the city.

“Safe travels, Boss,” Marco murmured under his breath, raising a hand in a crisp, respectful salute as the car disappeared down the winding driveway.

He pulled out his phone, dialed a secure frequency, and muttered into the receiver. “The package is in transit. Trigger the sequence when the car hits marker four inside the tunnel.”

“Copy that,” a voice crackled back.

Marco smirked, turning back toward the grand mansion. It was time to put on the performance of a lifetime—the grieving brother, lamenting the tragic, sudden loss of his dearest friend.

He walked back through the heavy iron doors, stepping into the sunlit marble foyer.

“Sophia!” Marco shouted, projecting a tone of urgent panic. “Sophia, get down here! Something’s wrong with the boss’s car! Sophia!”

The double doors of the drawing room swung open. But it wasn't the housekeeper who stepped out.
