Chapter 7 - ASHES OF THE DYNASTYThree days later, the Han estate looked less like a modern palace and more like a crime scene frozen in time.

Yellow police tape crisscrossed the reinforced iron gates. Media vans lined the wet asphalt of Lake Washington Boulevard, reporters shouting sensational headlines into their microphones about the dramatic downfall of Seattle’s most notorious hidden syndicate.
Inside the mansion, federal investigators were packing up filing cabinets, hard drives, and ledgers spanning three decades of illegal commerce.
Sun-hee Han sat in an interrogation room at the downtown federal building, staring blankly at a stainless-steel table. Her tailored silk suit was wrinkled, her diamond rings confiscated as proceeds of racketeering.
Across from her sat a federal prosecutor sliding a thick stack of plea documents across the desk.
"Your son's legal team submitted a comprehensive audit of the organization's logistics network this morning," the prosecutor said calmly. "Every offshore account held by Victor Han, every shell company registered under your name, and every bribe paid to municipal officials over the last fifteen years has been fully documented and handed over to the Department of Justice."
Sun-hee didn't look at the papers. Her voice was ice. "Daniel cannot dissolve the family council unilaterally. The board has veto power."

The prosecutor smiled faintly. "There is no board left, Mrs. Han. Daniel Han resigned his position as CEO at midnight, transferring the remaining legitimate real estate assets to a public trust controlled entirely by his wife, Evelyn Han. As of today, the Han syndicate does not exist."
Sun-hee clenched her fists until her fingernails dug into her palms, realizing too late that the weapon she had tried to use against her daughter-in-law had been turned into the executioner's axe that severed her entire legacy.
