Chapter 6 - The Turning Tide at the Hospital

In the secure recovery ward of Mountain General Hospital, Olivia lay propped up against a bank of pristine white pillows. The lower half of her body still felt like dead weight, a numb expanse beneath heavy wool blankets. But for the first time in her life, her mind felt crystal clear.
Dr. Patel walked in, accompanied by a tall, sharp-looking woman in a tailored navy suit.
"Olivia, this is Sarah Jenkins," Dr. Patel introduced softly. "She’s one of the top pro-bono civil rights and family law litigators in the state. And she wants to talk to you."
Sarah Jenkins stepped forward, pulling up a chair and sitting directly beside the bed. She didn't offer empty platitudes or patronizing comfort; she looked at Olivia like an equal—like a survivor ready for war.
"Olivia, your father and brother have retained corporate defense counsel," Sarah said, cutting straight to the point. "They’re preparing a PR offensive. They’re going to paint you as an unstable, rebellious teenager who faged an accident to sabotage her brother's future. They are going to try to silence you."
Olivia swallowed hard, her voice raspy but steady. "Can they win?"
Sarah smiled—a sharp, confident flash of teeth. "Not a chance in hell. Not with your medical chart. Not with the digital audit trail we’re pulling from your phone—the text messages where you begged your mother for help last year, the journal entries detailing every assault, and the sworn testimony of Aunt Caroline and Uncle Mark."
Sarah leaned in close, resting her hands on the edge of the mattress.
"Your family thought they could bury you in your own bedroom, Olivia. But the law has a very long memory. We aren't just filing criminal charges against Tyler for aggravated assault and attempted manslaughter. We’re filing a civil liability lawsuit against Robert and Jennifer Harrison for willful negligence, emotional torture, and enabling abuse."
