Chapter 7 - The Arrest

The morning sun cast a golden glow over the Colorado lake house, but the atmosphere was funereal.

The front doors swung open, not with a polite knock, but with the heavy, unyielding push of county deputies. Flashlights and warrants in hand, law enforcement moved through the pristine rooms like an invading army.

Robert stood in the center of the living room, his face dark with fury, his cell phone pressed tightly to his ear as he shouted at his high-priced Denver attorney.

"I don't care about the warrant, get a judge on the—"

"Mr. Harrison, end the call," Deputy Miller commanded, stepping forward with a pair of steel handcuffs gleaming in the morning light.

"You are making a catastrophic mistake!" Robert roared, jabbing a finger toward the deputy's chest. "Do you know who I am? I am a major donor to this county's police benevolent fund! I built this town!"

"Right now, Mr. Harrison, you're a suspect in a felony criminal conspiracy," Miller replied coldly, grabbing Robert's arm and spinning him around. Click. Click.

Across the room, Jennifer let out a piercing shriek as a female officer gently but firmly cuffed her wrists as well, escorting her toward the front door.

And upstairs, in his pristine bedroom, Tyler Harrison was pulled away from packing his designer duffel bag. As the cold metal cuffs locked around the wrists of the golden boy, he looked into the mirror, realizing for the first time in his sheltered, pampered life that his golden armor had finally shattered into dust. There was no daddy to bail him out, no mother to sweep it under the rug, and no sister left to take the fall.
