Chapter 7 - The Final Formula

"You're insane," Naomi said coldly, pressing her knee firmly against Julian’s chest to keep him pinned while she dialed the hospital security code on her emergency console.
"Insane?" Julian barked a harsh laugh, his eyes wild and bloodshot. "I am a genius! Sherman Bio-Tech belongs to the Vances! Your father stole our patents twenty years ago, Elijah. Marcus and I were just taking back what was rightfully ours. And when the boy died from the 'allergic reaction,' the board was going to vote to strip you of your majority shares entirely!"
Elijah stared down at the man, the dark pieces of a decades-old puzzle finally snapping into place. It wasn't just a corporate takeover; it was a blood feud disguised as business.
"My father bought those patents legally," Elijah said coldly. "And you and your brother chose a path of petty theft, betrayal, and attempted murder."
"And you fell for every single piece of it!" Julian sneered, struggling against Naomi’s grip. "Especially the part about your precious gold-digging wife! We planted those bank statements, Elijah! We paid off your private accountant to forge the offshore accounts! And you threw her out in the rain like trash!"
Elijah felt a physical blow hit his chest harder than any fist. He looked over at Naomi.
Under the harsh fluorescent lights, Naomi’s face remained remarkably calm, though her eyes held a profound, piercing depth. She didn't look triumphant; she looked vindicated.
"The police are two floors down," Naomi said steadily, her voice cutting through Julian’s manic laughter. "And the syringe you brought with you contains a concentrated dose of Aethel-C coupled with your own personal DNA markers on the plunger. Forensic science has come a long way since twenty years ago, Julian."
Julian’s manic grin faltered instantly. The reality of the situation crashed down upon him. He stopped struggling, his shoulders slumping against the cold tile.
Heavy footsteps echoed down the hallway as local police officers and hospital security surged into the suite, weapons drawn, securing the perimeter and cuffing Julian with heavy steel restraints.
Within minutes, the room was cleared of chaos. Gabriel and Fiona regained consciousness, nursing mild headaches from the gas, while a secondary medical team re-checked Toby’s vitals, confirming the boy was safe, sound, and completely unharmed.
Elijah stood near the window, wiping a trickle of blood from his split lip with the back of his hand.
Naomi walked over, holding a clean medical gauze and a antiseptic wipe. Without a word, she reached up and gently pressed the antiseptic to his lip.
Elijah flinched slightly, not from the pain, but from the unbearable tenderness of the gesture. He looked down into her eyes, the billionaire CEO entirely stripped of his armor.

"Naomi..." he whispered hoarsely.
"Hold still," she murmured, her hand steady, her touch clinical yet undeniably gentle. "You're bleeding."
