Chapter 6 - Opening the DossierRichard tried to regain his composure, adjusting his tie with shaking fingers.

“This is an intrusion,” Richard blustered, attempting to project false authority. “If you think you can storm in here with some frivolous lawsuit or extort this company for a retroactive payout—?”
“Extortion?” I raised an eyebrow, interrupting him cleanly. I flipped open the legal portfolio to page one. “Richard, let’s talk about extortion. Specifically, let’s talk about the four point two million dollars funneled through Apex Holdings LLC—a dummy corporation registered under your mother’s maiden name—between 2022 and 2025.”
The color drained entirely from Richard’s face. He stumbled backward, catching himself on the edge of his leather chair.
“That... that’s confidential corporate restructuring data!” Richard stammered, sweat beading instantly along his hairline. “You stole proprietary files—!”
“I didn't steal anything,” I corrected calmly. “As the lead brand strategist and compliance auditor of this firm three years ago, I legally analyzed every single vendor contract before your son’s legal team got lazy and stopped checking my audit trails. When you fired me to cover up your embezzlement, you forgot one crucial detail: I kept the master backups.”
Evelyn leaped up, pointing a trembling, manicured finger at me. “She’s lying! She’s a bitter, obsessive ex-contractor trying to ruin our family because Daniel rejected her!”
I turned my gaze slowly toward Evelyn, my dark eyes locking onto hers with a look of absolute, unmitigated contempt.

“Reject me, Evelyn?” I asked softly. “Your husband spent six years looking for a woman with a backbone because he was married to a hollow socialite who only cared about bank accounts and social pages. But let’s talk about you, Evelyn. Because your name isn't just on family trust documents—it’s explicitly signed on the secondary shell company kickback agreements.”
Evelyn gasped, stepping back as if she had been physically struck.
