Chapter 10 - The Unbreakable LegacyThree years later, the spring flowers bloomed in brilliant shades of violet and crimson across the estate gardens.

On the sprawling lawn, a three-year-old boy with bright, inquisitive eyes and a head of unruly dark curls chased a golden retriever across the grass, his gleeful laughter echoing into the afternoon air.
Sophia sat on the veranda beside me, sipping iced tea and watching her son play with a gentle, serene smile on her face. She had returned to law school, specializing in domestic abuse advocacy and victims' rights, determined to use her own harrowing journey to shield others from the darkness she had escaped.
"Mom," Sophia said, looking over at me as I adjusted my reading glasses. "The keynote speech for the National Bar Association convention... they confirmed it this morning. They want you to accept the Lifetime Achievement Award for Judicial Integrity."

"It's not just a plaque, Mom," Sophia said, her voice filled with deep, fierce admiration. "It’s a tribute. Across the country, judges, prosecutors, and survivors look at what you did—how you brought down a multi-state criminal syndicate with a single stroke of a pen and protected your family from the shadows—and they see what true justice looks like."
I looked out across the lawn, watching little Leo chase the puppy toward the garden gate. The iron gates stood open wide, welcoming the warm sunlight, unbothered by the ghosts of the past.
Victor Hale was just a distant, forgotten cell number in a maximum-security federal penitentiary—a cautionary tale whispered among corrupt men who thought they could outsmart the law.

And we were here. Safe, unbroken, and standing tall in the light.
"Let them talk," I said softly, taking Sophia's hand in mine. "As long as there are porches in this world and daughters needing shelter, the gavel will always be ready."
