Chapter 10 - THE FINAL WHISPERSix months later.

The annual shareholders' meeting of Blackwood Enterprises was held in the grand glass auditorium on the top floor of the corporate tower in downtown Boston.

The room was packed with investors, analysts, board members, and journalists. The air was thick with tension. Ever since the sudden arrest and indictment of Marcus Vance and the dismantling of Victor Vance’s corporate syndicate, Wall Street had been waiting to see who would take the reins of the multi-billion-dollar empire.

The heavy glass double doors swung open.

Richard Blackwood walked into the auditorium. He wore a sharp tailored suit, his silver-touched hair combed back, his posture commanding and unbreakable. But there was something profoundly different about him—the cold, unreadable mask was gone, replaced by a quiet, unshakable strength.

He walked up to the podium, looking out over the sea of anxious faces.

Before he could begin his opening address, the side door of the auditorium opened.

Mrs. Higgins walked in, holding the hands of three little girls dressed in matching yellow dresses with white lace collars. They each carried a small clipboard with crayons, walking with absolute confidence right toward the front row reserved for executive family members.

As Lily sat down in the oversized leather executive chair, she looked up at the podium, caught her father's eye, and gave him a tiny, encouraging thumbs-up.

Richard smiled, turning his attention back to the microphone.

"Good morning, ladies and gentlemen," Richard’s deep, resonant voice echoed effortlessly through the auditorium. "Before we discuss our quarterly acquisitions and the restructuring of our global patents, I’d like to begin by talking about foundations. True foundations. The kind built not on greed, deception, or corporate dominance... but on truth, resilience, and family."

The entire room fell into absolute, reverent silence.

"For three years, this company lost its way," Richard continued, his gaze sweeping across the boardroom. "And for three years, I believed I had lost everything that mattered. But true love, and true legacy, cannot be locked away or silenced. They find a way back into the light."

He looked down at the front row, where his three daughters were proudly coloring pictures of white lilies on their clipboards.

"Blackwood Enterprises is no longer just a corporation," Richard announced, his voice ringing with absolute finality as cameras flashed and reporters scribbled furiously from the back of the room. "Moving forward, fifty-one percent of our voting shares are officially placed into the Elizabeth & Daughters Trust—dedicated to protecting families, honoring truth, and ensuring that no child ever stands alone in the cold."

He paused, letting the historic words sink deep into the hearts of everyone in the room, before offering one final, quiet smile toward the front row.

"We are officially open for business."
