Chapter 9 - SUNRISE ON BEACON HILLThree weeks later.

The autumn chill had finally given way to a crisp, brilliant November morning. The sky over Boston was a clear, vivid blue, and the golden leaves of the maples at Brookside Memorial rustled gently in the morning breeze.
A black Bentley pulled up quietly to the cemetery gates.
The rear door opened, and Richard Blackwood stepped out. He wore his familiar charcoal overcoat, but his shoulders were no longer bowed by the heavy burden of manufactured grief. Today, he wasn't alone.
He held three small, warm hands in his own.
Lily, Chloe, and Mia walked beside him, each wearing matching lavender coats—their mother's favorite color. Each little girl carried a single, perfect white lily.
They walked down the familiar gravel path, the crunch of small shoes sounding like music in the quiet morning air, until they reached the polished granite headstone.

Richard knelt down, pulling the girls close as they placed their lilies gently against the cool stone, right beside the fresh inscription that had been added just days before: Forever in Our Hearts.
"Say good morning to Mommy, girls," Richard whispered softly, his voice thick with emotion.
"Good morning, Mommy," three sweet, synchronized voices chimed in unison, waving happily toward the headstone. "We live in the big castle with Daddy now. He makes us pancakes on Saturdays, and we have a dog named Barnaby."
Richard smiled, a genuine, radiant smile that he hadn't worn in years. He wrapped his arms around his daughters, pulling them tight against his chest, feeling the warmth of their breathing, the vibrant pulse of their lives—the living proof that love never truly dies, even when the world tries to bury it.

He looked up at the autumn sky, his heart finally at peace.
You were right, Elizabeth, he thought quietly. Flowers don't pretend. And neither do we.
