Chapter 6 - The Queen Reclaims Her Throne

Three weeks later.
The sunlight streamed into a high-end private recovery suite at San Pedro General Hospital. Camila sat up in bed, cradling tiny baby Sofia against her chest. The baby was thriving, gaining weight every day. Camila’s body was still recovering, scars marked her abdominal skin, but her eyes were clear, fierce, and focused.
The door opened, and Alejandro walked in holding a warm cup of tea and a stack of legal documents.
"How is she doing?" Alejandro asked, his voice softening instantly as he looked at the baby.
"She’s a fighter," Camila smiled gently, kissing Sofia’s forehead. "Just like her mother."
Alejandro set the papers on the table. "It's done. The court approved the complete asset seizure. Garza Capital has been dismantled and absorbed into your family foundation. Mateo’s trial is set for next month. He’s facing twelve years in federal prison."
Camila looked down at her hands. The memory of that night still haunted her—the cold floor, the blood, the sound of the phone ringing seventeen times into a void of heartless rejection.
"I thought I was going to die on those stairs, Alejandro," she whispered, a tear slipping down her cheek. "If you hadn't broken down those security gates..."
Alejandro sat beside her on the bed and gently wiped her tear away. "I promised you five years ago that no matter what happened, no matter how far away you were, I would answer whenever you called. I meant it then. I mean it now."
Camila looked into Alejandro’s eyes, seeing the man she should have trusted all along before Mateo’s webs of lies pulled them apart.
"He thought he left me to die," Camila said, her voice turning into steel. "He thought he was taking everything from me. But he only destroyed himself."

"There’s one more thing," Alejandro said, pulling out a sealed envelope marked Confidential Medical Lab. "The court required a formal DNA and health screening for the custody hearing. Mateo’s defense lawyer demanded it, hoping to prove you were unfaithful to discredit your testimony."
Camila frowned. "And?"
